EFM or Leased Line
A leased line connection today is pretty much bulletproof, once installed it is backed by a 99.9999% Service level Agreement (SLA) meaning you will experience virtually no down time with your connection.
You will get a dedicated symmetric connection but this will also come with a pretty hefty price tag and dependent on location you could also be faced with a sizeable installation charge as well.
As a suitable alternative and dependant on your location, you may be able to make use of existing copper wires via an EFM connection which is backed by a 99.9% SLA which means there will be little to no downtime.
As EFM is made up of copper pairs, if one pair was to fail your connection would still be available through the other pair albeit at a slightly slower speed.
So let’s now take a closer look at the differences.
