Leased Line Speeds – Typical Choices
The typical leased line speeds connection being offered for a leased line is 10Mbps up to 10Gbps.
When it comes to the most common speed the 10Mbps is the popular one. However, there are other connections that they provide that are now becoming popular which is the 50Mb and 100Mbps.
A faster connection for the same price?
As the price of connectivity falls, most IT Managers decide to increase the leased line speed which is for free. This is the alternative that they can use rather than stick and have a price cut on the speed of connection that is just the same.
When prices are divided most connections are being upgraded to 10Mbps from 2Mbps or to 100Mbps circuit from 10Mbps.
With regards to this, there are many factors that drive customers with leased lines to increase their connection. One factor is the internet becoming video rich on its resolution that has been increased. By the companies rolling out to key staff that are home working, it causes traffic levels on VPN’s to increase. Some companies also tend to replace their circuits which are ISDN to SIP trunks which a leased line provides.
Many advantages to a leased line
The leased line offers upload/download speeds which are the same. This means that uploading data can be performed at the same rate of speed.
Since leased lines are already dedicated there is no need to share it with other people. Which means the speed of the connection will not fall during peak times unlike what happens to the connection of ADSL.
The speed of connection being offered by a leased line is often higher and faster than the fastest connections available with ADSL. Since the speed of ADSL comes in a deal that is great it depends mostly on the distance where local telephone exchange is available. That means the longer the distance, the lower connection speed you can receive. In addition to this, the download speed is just a headline speed which means the connection can be, at times, painfully slow.
The Future: scream if you want to go faster (and cheaper!)
In the coming years, leased line plans are to increase their connection speed and give a better service to its users. From the traditional green telephone junction boxes found in the streets, it will now be changed into a fibre connection that is ultra fast. With this present, the speed of connections can now reach from 20Mbps up to 80Mbps. Having this upgrade made possible in the future can provide businesses with a faster speed leased line at an affordable price.
Britain, which is one of the largest cable networks, is now starting to double up the speed they are offering to their consumers. In doing this, it can be of great support in lowering down the cost of a leased line on their fast connection.
