Openreach, a leading network access provider under BT, has disclosed its latest round of annual price adjustments, marking the second set of increases. This time, the focus is predominantly on their wholesale products, including Ethernet (EAD, EBD, etc.), OSA, Excess Construction Charges (ECC), Dark Fibre, and Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA), catering to UK Internet Service Providers (ISPs), businesses, and other network entities.
In compliance with Ofcom’s regulatory guidelines, Openreach is permitted to implement price hikes across its diverse range of products, generally mirroring the inflation rate. However, variations may arise due to factors such as discounts, and certain products may witness a decrease. It is noteworthy that some older products, such as the ADVA FSP3000 volume discount 100+/200+/350+/750+ pricing, will be withdrawn from the market next year.
Important to note is that all these price adjustments will come into effect from April 1, 2024.
While providing a comprehensive summary of the multitude of price changes proves challenging due to their extensive range, interested parties can access more detailed information by navigating to Openreach’s Pricing Page. As an illustrative example, the annual rental for a 1Gbps EAD circuit will see an increase from £2,100 to £2,262. Specifically, when used for FTTP (full fibre) aggregation, the cost will rise from £2,664 to £2,850.
Despite these adjustments, Openreach has introduced a silver lining by confirming the renewal of existing and the introduction of new special offers. These offers are applicable to EAD 1Gb and EAD 10Gb, effective from April 1, 2024, until March 31, 2025 (details available here).
