What Affects the Cost of a 10Gb Leased Line in the UK?

10Gb Leased Line

A 10Gb leased line is one of the fastest and most powerful business internet connections available in the UK — but how much does it actually cost?

The short answer? It varies.

Most businesses pay between £600 and £2,500 per month, but your final quote depends on more than just speed. Here’s what really affects the price of a 10Gb leased line.

1. Your Location

The number one cost factor is your postcode.

If your building is already connected to a provider’s network (what we call on-net), your costs will usually be lower — and installation times shorter.

If not, the provider may need to lay new fibre, dig trenches, or request local permissions. These infrastructure upgrades can increase both your lead time and your total cost.

2. Excess Construction Charges (ECCs)

If the provider needs to carry out civil engineering work to connect your premises, ECCs may apply. These can include:

  • Road digs

  • New ducting

  • Internal cabling

  • Wayleave agreements (for landlord permissions)

Some providers absorb these charges, especially on longer-term contracts. Others quote them upfront. At Connect2, we’ll flag any ECCs before you sign — and negotiate where possible.

3. Contract Length

The longer the term, the lower the monthly cost.

Signing a 36- or 60-month contract often gives you:

  • Better pricing

  • Waived installation fees

  • Lower ECC risk

Shorter 12-month terms offer flexibility but tend to carry higher monthly rates and setup costs.

4. The Provider You Choose

Each UK carrier has different pricing structures, service levels, and support packages. Some providers focus on raw performance; others bundle support, 4G backup, or premium SLAs.

We compare all major UK providers to help you find the best fit for your budget, location, and technical needs.

5. Installation Urgency

Need a line installed fast? Some providers can accelerate delivery, but this often comes at a premium.

Alternatively, some offer interim 4G/5G backup to keep you connected while your fibre is being installed — a great option if you can’t afford downtime.

Final Tip: Always Compare Quotes

The biggest mistake we see? Businesses accepting a single quote without comparing.

At Connect2, we compare real-time prices from all major UK providers — including BT, Vodafone, Colt, Virgin Media Business, Glide, and more. You’ll see accurate pricing based on your exact location, without any guesswork.
